Welcome to the blog of the Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP); probably the world’s leading data collection program on organized violence, violent conflicts and conflict resolution. The program is housed at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, Sweden.
This blog’s purpose is to share the UCDP’s knowledge on questions of war and peace with the general public. The blog will mainly post short background notes on current events so as to put these in a larger context, but also provide insights and perspectives on war and peace in the world, as well as inform about the latests UCDP updates to its research datasets and the UCDP Conflict Encyclopedia.
The contributors to this blog are mainly the research staff of the UCDP, who all specialize in certain geographical areas, countries and conflicts. Other contributors may be staff at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, Sweden. Other contributors are also a possibility. If you are interested, just e-mail the blog. Posts in Swedish and English are accepted.
